The BLCO Guild meeting on November 9, 2008, began with Bill Brown’s
demonstration of various methods of edging leather items. He asked other members
to relate some of their techniques for edging leather items..
The demonstration was followed by a session of Show and Tell. Tom Putinsky had a
few bottles of extra Fiebing’s dye, which he offered to members who could use
them.
Allan showed a stamped and a carved billfold. Allan says he thinks it is better
to seal and slick the edges of billfolds and other items before lacing them,
because it makes the lacing easier. He said he learned that from Bill Brown.
MINUTES OF BUSINESS MEETING HELD ON NOVEMBER 9, 2008
Tom Putinsky moved that we dispense with reading of minutes of the October
meeting.. Motion carried. The Treasurer made his report, which was approved. The
seed money from the IFoLG has been paid back.
OLD BUSINESS:
At the October meeting, we agreed to vote on the offices of President and
Treasurer at the November meeting. George moved and Tom Putinsky seconded the
motion to retain Allan Scheiderer as President and David Scheiderer as Treasurer
for another two year term. Motion carried.
CHRISTMAS PARTY
Carol Martin has contacted several places to obtain prices on catered, delivered
meals. It was decided to go with City Barbeque. The meal will include choice of
three meats, three sides, two desserts, and a mixture of beverages. The party
will be from five to 9 PM on Saturday, December 6 at the Prairie Township Senior
Center at 4616 West Broad Street.
It is hoped that all members and their wives and husbands will attend. Also all
others who helped either ahead of time or at the Show. I do not have names and
addresses of everyone who should be invited. I am asking all members to invite
their friends and family members who helped. I hesitate to start naming people
for fear of leaving some- one out, but here goes: Vicki and Rod Williams,
Russell Brown, John and Gloria Weese, Tom Putinsky’s granddaughter, Sandy’s
three friends who helped with the hospitality room, Sandy and Vickie’s sister
Cindy and Cindy’s husband and children, young people who helped distribute the
door prizes, Mark’s niece, and Bobbie Medina’s children Jessica and Jeremy.
Please help with inviting these people and others I failed to include.
A motion was made and seconded to invite Fred Kilburn and Dee McKean. Motion
carried unanimously. They both contributed greatly to the success of the show.

There will be a white elephant exchange. Remember to wrap your white elephant
so it looks pretty and bring it along. Of course this is not mandatory, but it
does make a cute game which is more fun to participate in than to just watch.
Also make and bring a Christmas ornament if you can.
Bill will play his guitar and Jeremy will play his Cello.
Mark moved that we use money from the Show Treasury to donate $200.00 to the
Church, We had a lot of extra Show meetings here.
NEW BUSINESS:
We voted to have a website again this year. Allan will talk to Johanna about it.
Since we have not heard from the Simon Kenton University of Scouting, Robin will
get in touch with them to see about the Guild doing classes there on January 31.
Mark said we have enough material on hand to make 14 pencil cases. We need
volunteers.
We discussed whether we should rent a table there this year. It was decided not
to rent a table this year, but have a place inside the classroom to display our
literature with a sign outside the door inviting people to come in for
literature.
Mark and Allan have each received an E-mail from Delilah Hetterscheidt who is
the Assistant Director of the Family Arts & Crafts portion of the Ohio State
Fair. She wants to know what our Guild is willing to do for the Ohio State Fair
in 2009.. Robin moved that we make this decision after the first of the year.
Motion carried.
George moved that we postpone the Treasurer’s Audit until after we close the
Show account after the first of the year. David seconded the motion, which
passed.

UPDATE ON SIMON KENTON UNIVERSITY OF SCOUTING
Robin was able to contact the Simon Kenton University of Scouting and I also
contacted them again. We found they had lost our contact numbers and made other
arrangements for the leather classes in 2009. They promised to keep our numbers
for next year. They requested that we buy a table space.
