MINUTES OF THE JUNE BLCO MEETING ON
JUNE 1, 2008
The June
meeting of the BLCO convened at 2:00 PM, when Bill Brown, Vice President and
Program Chairman, introduced Don Martin’s belt demonstration. Eleven members
were present. Don showed how to put ends of shot gun shells onto a belt. It is
a nifty idea, resulting in a very attractive belt.
Show and Tell
Bill Brown
showed a cell phone holder with a floral design, which he is making from a kit.
He had to shrink the floral design pattern which came with the kit, because it
was too large. Bill also showed a wallet back he has made.
Sandy Nowacki showed a belt she is working on for a Santa Clause impersonater.
Allan Scheiderer brought the framework of a Director’s Chair and asked how to
use leather for the seat. Five to six ounce leather was suggested. Tom Wilhelm showed
how to put leather on for a seat and back. Several other items were shown.
Business Meeting
Allan
Scheiderer, President, called the business part of the meeting to order. He
thanked members for attending.
The Treasurer’s report was read and approved.
The minutes of the May meeting were approved as published with one correction.
The fifth sentence on page three should read: “Alex Madson was the head judge.”
Madson was misspelled.
The Weaver Auction will be on Wednesday, July 16 and Thursday, July 17. We hope
to distribute flyers advertising the IFoLG show at the Weaver Auction. Fred
will bring a sample flyer, before it is printed, to one of the next two
meetings.
Committee Reports
Today is
118 days before the 2008 IFoLG Show. Mark reported that there will be a Show
Meeting on June 15, two weeks from today..
Allan distributed copies of an e-mail he recently received from John Vanzant.
Roz is the head judge of the 2008 IFoLG Show. She will make decisions and
arrange for any help she feels she may need.
The Calumet Leather Guild thanked us for Raffle table donations for their show.
Carol Higgins signed the letter. Between 100 and 150 people were at the Show,
with at least 200 raffle table drawings

Carol
Higgins has sent letters about the workshops for the IFoLG show. Carol Martin
has gotten two more registrations and banquet ticket reservations.

Tom Wilhelm asked about getting a Show packet, since he does not have e-mail.
Carol Martin gave him a packet.
I have copies of the contest flyers for youth up to 16 years of age, to give
out at the Ohio State Fair.
Roz suggested that we send entry tags to all IFoLG show entrants. There was a
discussion on this. We will send tags when requested.
Carol Higgins suggested that we send a show packet to all workshop entrants.
Allan will send e-mail ones and Carol Martin will do the snail mail ones. Allan
gave her some forever stamps which he had purchased with guild funds before the
price increase..
At least five of our members will have entries in the Ohio State Fair. Allan
logged in to Ohio State Fair and found it. It is much more user friendly than
last year.
Entries for the Ohio State Fair must be in by June 20th. The entry
fee is $10.00 plus one dollar per class. This year they will be selling a 6 day
fair entry ticket for $28.00.
Two more people signed up for dates and times to demonstrate at the fair.
